Securing natural gas supply to EU member states is a matter of significant importance for the EU. The increasing import dependency of natural gas in the EU coupled with increased demand for flexibility in gas markets has made natural gas storage a central issue in the EU’s energy debate regarding market development and security of supply.
Analyses and evaluations of energy strategy
In order to address, analyse and evaluate the issues the EU Commission selected Ramboll to provide guidance and input for the Second Strategic Energy Review and the work of the Gas Coordination Group in the EU.
Comprehensive studies
The study included a broad spectrum of analyses of the present European gas market, including:
- key gas storage market parameters
- analysis of future demand and supply of storage
- technical review of Ukraine’s transmission capacities and gas flows
- presentation of gas storage regulation and costs of storage as well as recommendations concerning strategic gas stocks
